Gunman Kills Two Women in Shooting at New Castle Courthouse in Delaware Before Being Killed

A lone suspect opened fire in a shooting in New Castle County Courthouse, Delaware where he shot and killed two womenaccording to an article by CNN. Initial reports also indicated that the shooter’s estranged wife was one of the victims.  Two Capitol police officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The gunman was killed, and early reports indicated he was shot and killed by police.

NPR reported that the shooter did not get past the metal detectors of the courthouse and that a shootout took place in the public lobby of the building. The NPR article also stated that the suspect was a former optometrist who who spent time in federal prison for kidnapping his three daughters and bank fraud in 2007.
