Lawsuit Filed Against Anti-Gay “Conversion Therapy”

Four men filed suit against a New Jersey therapy group for therapy services it offers to “cure” homosexuality. Attorney Christine Sun of the Southern Poverty Law Center represents four men suing Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing (“JONAH”), which is located in New Jersey.  The men allege that JONAH’s practice of offering therapy services to cure homosexuality are deceptive consumer fraud.  Claims brought by the plaintiff include alleged violations of New Jersey’s consumer protection statute.  Read the full article here.

The lawsuit is believed to be the first of its kind.  The Southern Poverty Law Center, founded by well-known attorney Morris Dees,  is an American non-profit civil rights organization based out of Montgomery, Alabama. The Southern Poverty Law Center has famously brought lawsuits against hate groups and on behalf of victims of civil rights.
