A fight between two wedding parties at the Sheraton Society Hill in Philadelphia erupted this past weekend. Reports indicate that as many as 100 people were involved in the fight. According to news reports, police indicated that the situation was made worse by alcohol. All too often the service of alcohol at large events like weddings is not monitored. Pennsylvania law forbids a bar, restaurant or any person or company with a liquor license from serving someone while that person is visibly intoxicated.

When a bar or hotel serves a visibly intoxicated person alcohol and that consumption leads to harm, whether in a fight or in a car accident, the bar or hotel may be held liable under the law.  These cases are often called dram shop cases or involve liquor liability claims.
