A Train Struck A Parade Float Carrying Wounded Veterans During A Parade

A horrible event occurred near Midland, Texas this week when a freight train struck a parade float carrying wounded military veterans. The veterans and their spouses were being honored in a parade and were seated on the parade float when the accident occurred. The float was still being pulled across the train tracks when it was struck by the oncoming train.

All the veterans being honored had been wounded during their service to our country.  They were amputees, had been severely burned in combat, or had suffered other wounds that left them disabled, according to the president of a local veterans group.

To date four people were killed as a result of the accident. Nearly seventeen others were injured.
