Suspended Judge Joan Orie Melvin Convicted On Six Of Seven Criminal Charges
Suspended Pennsylvania Supreme Court Judge Joan Orie Melvin was convicted on six of seven criminal campaign corruption charges today in Harrisburg. Orie Melvin was found guilty of misapplication of government funds, theft of services, and conspiracy in relation to using her former Superior Court staff and the legislative staff of her sister, former state Senator Jane Orie, to run Joan Orie Melvin’s campaigns for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in 2003 and 2009.
Joan Orie Melvin’s sister, Jane Orie, was also found guilty on six of seven criminal charges brought against her.
