Inspector Of Philadelphia Building Collapse Site Has Committed Suicide
The city employee that last inspected the Philadelphia building before it collapsed last week has apparently committed suicide. The 52-year-old employee of the Department of Licenses and Inspections was found dead in his vehicle from a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities believe it was a suicide. According to CBS News, police said that the man sent a text message to his wife before his death.
The inspector had visited the construction site at 22nd and Market Streets on May 14. On June 5 the building that was being demolished collapsed onto an adjacent Salvation Army thrift store, killing six people and injuring more than a dozen others.
