Ford Transit Wagon Recall And F-150 Recall
A recall was issued for Ford Transit Wagon and Ford F-150 models
Ford Motor Co. has issued a recall for the 2015 and 2016 model year Ford Transit Wagon due to defective rear seat belts. According to Ford, the rear seat belts can fail to latch properly if any heavy object is placed on top of them. Any seat belt failure can increase the risk of injury in an accident. To date, Ford stated it was unaware of any injuries or accidents related to the condition.
How many vehicles are affected by the recall?
The recall affects 51,470 Ford Transit wagons in North America. The affected Ford Transit Wagons were built in Ford’s Kansas City assembly plant. Ford stated 48,990 of the impacted vehicles are in the U.S., while 1,781 are in Canada and 699 are located in Mexico.
Ford has also issued a recall for thousands of Ford F-150 pickups. The recall affects Ford F-150s from the 2016 model year. The affected F-150s were manufactured in the company’s plant in Dearborn, Michigan. According to Ford, the defective F-150 trucks have an issue with their multi-contour seats. The seats may misidentify an adult as a child when the front passenger seat’s massage function is activated. This mistake would prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a collision, which raises the risk of injury.
How can I check if my vehicle is affected by the recall?
If you own a Ford vehicle, you can use Ford’s website to search for potential recalls. The website is https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls.html.
If you or a family member own a Ford Transit Wagon, contact your local Ford dealer for service. Ford has stated that repairs of the seat belts will be provided free of charge.
